STRAWBERRY WINE
By: Deana Carter
He was working through college on my grandpa's farm
I was thirsting for for knowledge and he had a car
I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child
When one restless summer we found love growing wild
On the banks of the river on a well beaten path
Funny how those memories they last
Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine
I still remember when thirty was old
My biggest fear was September when he had to go
A few cards and letters and one long distance call
We drifted away like the leaves in the fall
But year after year I come back to this place
Just to remember the taste
Of strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine
The fields have grown over now
Years since they've seen a plow
There's nothing time hasn't touched
Is it really him or the loss of my innocence
I've been missing so much
Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine
Dedicated, with all my love, to Hannah Sinoway on her 30th Birthday!!

“You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before, and she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect, you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together, but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold on to her and give her the most that you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, But she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break, her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her and don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy; let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she is not there” - Bob Marley (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981)
